Community leaders come together to celebrate two tireless leaders

December 12, 2014 - Community leaders from all over gathered to celebrate the work and remarkable achievements of two of the region’s tireless leaders.

Faten Alshazly, co-founder and Chief Creative Officer of WeUsThem, was recognized for being named Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women, a first for Nova Scotia in Arts and Communications.

Dr. Stan Kutcher, Chair of Adolescent Mental Health at http://TeenMentalHealth.org and Director of the World Health Organizations Collaboration Centre for Mental Health Policy, was invested into the Order of Nova Scotia, the provinces highest honour.

“It was great to see such a diverse group of community leaders come together and celebrate these remarkable achievements,” says Ashwin Kutty, President and CEO of WeUsThem. “To have so many notable leaders attend is a testament to Faten’s and Stan’s hard work and desire to make positive change.”

The Province of Nova Scotia and its various departments expressed strong support with Minister Lena Diab, Minster Labi Kousoulis and Minister Tony Ince all in attendance. Also expressing their congratulations was Deputy Chief Bill Moore of Halifax Regional Police; Superintendent Robin McNeil of Halifax Regional Police; Dr. Colin Dodds, President of St. Mary’s University; Dr. Nick Delva, Head of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University; Starr Dobson, President and CEO of the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia; Ismael Aquino, Provincial Director of Canadian Red Cross and many more from across the Province.

Parla Più Piano in the original Italian was sung centre stage bringing together a full range of artistic talent presented at the event.

“It’s an honour to have WeUsThem tied to both Faten’s and Stan’s accomplishments,” said Kutty. “This is only the tip of the iceberg, and we look forward to building off of these successes.”
