Celebrate Canada 150 with us – an award-winning interactive campaign
For Canada 150, a Halifax based agency helped people celebrate Canada 150 globally.
In partnership with Global Affairs Canada, and the Government of Canada, WeUsThem created, developed and designed an interactive campaign that was initially designed for the United States, however, spread globally. The campaign is the recipient of a Gold Hermes award for excellence in marketing and communications.
“Global Affairs Canada, and our Embassy in Washington, DC, were very pleased to partner with WeUsThem on the Virtual Canada150 Birthday Card. This innovative project resulted in hundreds of creative and heartfelt submissions from Canadians and Americans,” said Colin Shonk, Deputy Spokesperson and Digital Diplomacy Lead at the Embassy. “A number of the messages were included in a commemorative Canada150 book presented to the Prime Minister and his family.”
In 2017, people across Canada were celebrating and reflecting on Canada’s rich heritage for Canada 150. The Canada 150 campaign opened up a space for Canadians and Americans to share messages of what Canada means to them through their own voices and memories of events, places, friends and family across the country.
The Canada 150 campaign brought people together to share their well-wishes for Canada. Messages from Canadians around the world were shared on the Canada 150 Birthday Card. The messages helped everyone celebrate the beautiful country with highlights, hopes for the future and dreams for the progression of Canada.
“Canada is known for its beautiful vistas, its magnificent locales and breathtaking natural landscape, but more importantly also for its diverse and inclusive nature of bringing people together. We wanted to create a campaign that represented the way that Canada brings people together.”, said Ashwin Kutty, CEO of WeUsThem, “The Canada 150 campaign did what Canada does best and brought people together to share positivity and celebrate their own unique voices in remembering their experiences, sojourns, memories and nostalgia of everything they attributed to it. To receive an international award for this campaign further solidifies the impact what we had for Canada 150.”
The campaign won a Gold Hermes Award, which is an international competition for creative professionals. The Hermes award celebrates concept, writing and design of marketing materials both in print and digital. WeUsThem was the only recipient of the award east of Montreal. The competition saw over 6,500 entries this year from 21 different countries.
