HALIFAX – (April 21, 2015) – As part of the Halifax visit, Her Excellency Mrs. Sharon Johnston will be briefed by Dr. Stan Kutcher of TeenMentalHealth.org, on the various mental health initiatives and projects being rolled our across Canada and beyond.
The presentation will have Mrs. Johnston learn about how the initiatives and programs meet the needs of youth, parents, educators and health care providers through mental health literacy and education. Programs such as Transitions, which is a resource to help students transition from high-school to post-secondary school, will be highlighted, along with an overview of the School Mental Health initiative, The Family Pack and Brain Injury Guides to name a few.
The presentation will be followed by a moderated discussion with experts in the mental health care sector, along with representatives from various organizations and community members.
