One of the challenges faced is to provide various tools, and functions for trained professionals and family carers to manage the day-to-day care of those with dementia, at home.
The Sinai Health System has recently contracted WeUsThem to develop an app for carers of patients with Dementia. Developed as a networked application, carers are able to communicate with each other, assign tasks, track behaviours, manage medications and longitudinally view how patients are reacting with the administration of medication and application of the associated care plan, at various parts of the day. The app also includes a carers corner, ensuring that resources specific to the well-being of the carer are also included. These are available in the form of videos and exercises. With links to geographically specific Alzheimer’s Societies, the app also provides coordinates for local support and assistance, should the carer require these, in the community.
