Halifax, NS – Oct 31, 2025 WeUsThem has received the 2025 Communicator Awards by the Academy of Interactive & Visual Arts, earning the Award of Distinction for its work on the Global Fraud Prevention Month Campaign created for the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC).
This international campaign was developed to educate and protect individuals from immigration fraud, a growing concern for newcomers and prospective immigrants from five countries; Nigeria, the Philippines, China, and India along with right here in Canada. Delivered in multiple languages to ensure accessibility, cultural resonance, and impact, the campaign highlighted the need for seeking out assistance from licensed consultants as opposed to fraudsters.
“This campaign was deeply personal for us,” said Ashwin Kutty, President & CEO of WeUsThem. “Immigration journeys are filled with vulnerability and hope. We wanted to create something that didn’t just inform, but truly connected something that made people feel seen, understood, and protected in their pursuit of a better life.”
The campaign used a combination of storytelling, strategic media placements, and culturally attuned messaging to shine a light on the risks associated with unauthorized immigration representatives. Through a blend of social media, digital outreach, and community engagement, it empowered audiences to identify red flags, verify representatives, and report suspicious activity natively on platforms unique to each country.
“What made this campaign truly meaningful was the trust placed in us to engage people at one of the most important junctures of their lives,” added Faten Alshazly, Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer. “It wasn’t just about flashy messaging. It was about empathy, clarity, and the responsibility to speak in a way that was both respectful and effective across vastly different cultural contexts.”
The Communicator Awards, now in their 31st year, are among the most respected honours in the marketing and communications industry, spotlighting outstanding work that moves audiences and drives meaningful change. Being selected as Award winner, places WeUsThem among a global community of top-tier creatives, marketers, and communicators.
This recognition reinforces WeUsThem’s ongoing commitment to purposeful storytelling and impactful strategy, particularly in campaigns that seek to educate, protect, and uplift vulnerable communities.
